He might not be moving too well yet, but Dan Carter is definitely grooving.
The injured All Black first five made his debut as a DJ last night, entertaining the several hundred people waiting to be the first to purchase the new iPhone 4S.
Carter says he hasn’t chosen a DJ name yet, and says he doesn’t think he could.
“I’m a rugby player, I've got no idea what I’m doing with my DJing,” he says.
He says he was “just scratching my little finger over the record, it was all pretty harmless,” but the crowd was impressed regardless.
Carter was also working front of house, signing up an excited Ami Yang as the first customer at midnight.
He says her reaction was “like she was storing it all inside her - she’d been waiting for 15-16 hours so I could see why, what it means to her”.
The 19-year-old student was the first of several hundred customers lining up to own the 5th generation iPhone.
She says Carter was “very good” and friendly as a shopkeeper.
Both Telecom and Vodafone are reporting strong sales for the new iPhone.
