Christchurch has held its inaugural sand sculpting competition this weekend.
There were dozens of works ranging from the amateur to the professional - including two teams from the US, who flew over especially for the event at New Brighton beach.
Despite the windy weather, the works will not blow away for several days – they have been sprayed with water mixed with a little PVA glue to make sure they stay put.
