A group protesting at Christchurch City Council CEO Tony Marryatt's payrise is distributing thousands of leaflets in the city.

The 14 percent increase takes his salary to nearly $540,000.

The group - No Payrise for Tony Marryatt - is looking to gain even more support from outraged members of the public.

"There's no politics involved, there's no hidden agendas," says organiser Peter Lynch. "We're just ordinary ratepayers."

Another protest is being organised for the first of February.

I am absolutely amazed - these posters and flyers are showing up all over Christchurch surely a measure of how Christchurch people are feeling about their council and their blatant mismanagement, the urgent need to get rid of Tony Marryatt and the entire city council on an overwhelming vote of no confidence
