I put my contents claim, with all the correct paperwork and photo's, into ECQ not long after the Sept earthquake. I was told it had been accepted and I would be paid. I had to put another claim in after the Feb quake for more contents that had broken. I called ECQ on numerous occasions to ask when I was going to get paid. I have finally been told that I will not get paid for any contents claim until the wrecker ball has been put though my house and the house demolition has started. Yes, my house also got wrecked in the Sept earthquake. I found out today that my house will not be rebuilt now and not in the forseeable future as the re insurers will not insure any rebuilds until the siesmic activity lessons. So I guess I'll not get my contents money until then... not fair.

The claim in the interview that people did not have all the documentation is a lie I have rung on many occasions been told all the paper work correct just waiting for sign off many of my friensd have heard a simalar story. the comment that if you need a fridge for medicince we will speed up the claim is insulting to everyone as everyone need a fridge to store there food or do EQC think it is ok to leave Christchurch people in third world conditions. Saldy for any staff at EQC that are possibly capable of doing their job they are lead by incompentant managemmt that think it is ok to lie in interviews or even go on holiday while their department is under performing and the people who are effected by this under performance are not able to get away from the stress. Its bad enough the after shocks but now we are dealing with man made stress. You would think in an election year we would see more presure on EQC to get their act togother.

So, claims are not being processed while 'emergency' work is being carried out and settled? In very many cases heat pumps are being put into houses that do not need them. This is because EECA has a hidden agenda of trying to stop people using solid fuel heating and is trying to con people into giving up their chimneys. Much, much cheaper and simpler would be to give everybody two oil column hearters and a voucher for $500 of free electricity. EQC could then get on with the important job of settling real claims, but this is too obvious for the brains at EQC.

500 staff, if they could pay just two claims before lunch, and two after, they would do 10,000 claims a week, and they would by now have been able to do 400,000 claims by now. If they could do 5 in the morning and five in the afternoon they would have been able to do 1,000,000 claims. They are hopeless. And don't believe this "unprecedented event" story. We have been paying them to prepare this for years, and while they may have expected the quake in Wellington and not Christchurch, they should have expected this number of claims
