The Wynyard Quarter tram passes through a construction site

The Wynyard Quarter tram passes through a construction site

On Monday Campbell Live spoke to Kelly Rice, who was unhappy with her weekend tram ride.

“I was on the tram with a South African, and a Hungarian and an English woman. They were all horrified, and a Russian woman said "if I wanted to go to Chernobyl, I would have gone at home,” Ms Rice said.

She thought Auckland's new Wynyard Quarter tram journey was a rip-off - $10 for a tour that mostly takes in car parks, commercial buildings and construction sites.

Although kids were free, and the trams themselves very impressive, it was a big letdown.

Today we've received some good news from Auckland waterfront. Auckland ratepayers and residents will now pay just $5 for an all-day pass.

And it is worth pointing out that of the one and a half kilometre journey, at least a quarter of it is quite attractive.

Overseas and out of town visitors, you still pay $10.
