Cheese workers at Open Country Cheese will return to work as a month-long lockout comes to an end.
The company underwent restructuring which greatly reduced the number of positions available. Employees were locked out when they began seeking a collective employment agreement to secure their jobs.
“The members of our union at Open Country Cheese have stuck together right through this very difficult dispute,” says Dairy Workers Union National Secretary James Ritchie.
“They were illegally locked out for standing up for their rights.”
Mr Ritchie says a confidential settlement was reached for workers whose jobs have disappeared.
