A number of Waikanae parents are raising concern over reports a man has been following and approaching children.

The man is believed to be in his 40s, is tall and thin and of Caucasian descent with dark curly hair and round glasses.  He has also been seen driving a white four-door sedan.

Waikanae Primary School principal, Bevan Campbell, says staff will be going through its safety programme with students.

The most recent incident occured on Friday and involved a seven-year-old boy.
