China 'another Europe' for exporters

China is poised to become the world's largest economy by 2020.

New Zealand signed a free trade agreement with China four years ago, and the country is already New Zealand's second largest trading partner - but Auckland Chamber of Commere CEO Michael Barnett says we're barely scraping the surface in terms of the business opportunities this market offers.

“We had a real leader advantage in getting a free trade agreement, but if we’re not careful countries like Australia will come in and they’ll catch up,” he told Firstline this morning.

Mr Barnett says the different provinces of China provide a range of opportunities for New Zealand businesses and advises local exporters to think of China as “another Europe”.

NZ exporters should change their old and arrogant attitude...wake up to the new monies from all Asian Consumers especially China. After all any money from another Culture and/or Race is still Legal Tender. Eh, Kiwis?
