Police in China investigating the death of a billionaire believe it may be a case of murder by cat meat.

Forestry company-tycoon Long Liyuan died last month after a business lunch in the southern city of Yangjiang where he shared a local delicacy: cat meat hotpot.

An online statement from city police says one of Long's lunch partners, Huang Guang, has been detained on suspicion of poisoning the hotpot with a toxic herb.

The statement posted Monday says Huang and Long had business disputes and that while all three men at the lunch fell sick, Long died because he consumed more of the herb.

Long's family claimed he may have been deliberately poisoned.
