A photo of Chloe Moretz covered in blood in the upcoming remake of 1976 horror film Carrie has been released.

The blonde actress has revealed the perils she faced while shooting the film, saying that fake blood "stains your hair".

In the new movie, director Kimberly Peirce stayed true to one of the iconic scenes from the original picture. Chloe had to be soaked head to foot in costume make-up to imitate blood. The staining properties increased the pressure to shoot the scene correctly.

"We only have, like, four chances to get it right," Chloe told Entertainment Weekly about shooting the scene where a blood-covered Carrie goes crazy on her fellow students at prom. "Because that stuff stains your hair."

Chloe insists the new adaptation of Stephen King's legendary book will differ from the original Brian de Palma film. She has revealed more elements from the book will feature in her film.

"It's more of like a Black Swan version of it," Chloe recently explained to MTV News.

"So you really see the mythology of the character and you really see everything going on with Carrie. It's darker."

Carrie is set for release in March 2013.
