Embattled R&B star Chris Brown has filed suit against a paparazzo who has accused the singer's bodyguards of assaulting him.

Robert Rosen claims he fell down a stairwell at a gym in March after being chased and assaulted by Brown's security team.

In new court filings obtained by TMZ.com, Brown says he is not responsible for the snapper's injuries, and he blames the LA Fitness club's bosses for failing to properly maintain and supervise the facility - and keep out lurking photographers.

Brown is currently on probation following a conviction for his brutal assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna, which took place in February.

He was ordered to serve six months of hard labour in his home state of Virginia, five years of supervised probation for felony assault and also instructed to attend domestic violence classes.
