Kiwi music legend Chris Knox is likely to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair, doctors say.
Knox suffered a stroke on Thursday last week, and was rushed to Auckland Hospital unable to drink water or answer basic questions. He can now smile and recognises people, but is still unable to speak.
Doctors have taken action to relieve pressure on his skull, according to ex-Toy Love bandmate Paul Kean.
Knox, who these days is just as well-known for his writing and cartooning as his music, is currently in a stable condition.
