From what i have read Mr Marryat has already been paid half of the increase as it was backdated 6 months or so. I find it difficult to believe is the salary that a lot of local body CEO's (previously Town Clerks)is higher paid than the Prime Ministers, and even higher than Mr Obama - President of the USA. How did this all happen?? There are bigger issues that we all need to sort out!!!

What a crock John Campbell is employed by a private concern Tony Marryatt is a servant of the people of Christchurch, he is paid out of ratepayers funds - he has not performed and he is not worth the money - it is irrelevant that he stopped the pay rise he has already had $34,000 of the backdated increase and Parker will find a way to pay him the rest. Marryatt and Parker must go.

I was dissapointed to see John Campbell's relentless campaign against a L/A CEO salary. Rates are only part of a L/A revenue stream. How about John you front on your salary amount so people can judge if you are worth wathching influencing the advertising which part pays for your salary.Enjoy TV 3 Earthquake coverage but John you got carried away on this issue.

We pay for John Campbell's wages?, who ever pays John Campbell is welcome to reduce is wages or sack him any time they like , and like wise we have the right to reduce or sack your cronie mate Marryat and for that matter these who decided his excessive wage increase. Ah yes wages for public service for everyone else have to be as low as possible unless its related to these right up at the top of the food chain then in that case your allowed to screw the tax payer for all one can get. Good old double standards.

I dont pay Campbells wages but I do pay Marriotts while I sit here in my broken house waiting for this pack of little boys to stop playing their purile games and focus on whats important. You blew it guys , too little too late from Marriott. And I have no doubt there was a backroom deal from Bob et el, to make sure he gets his money somehow.

Too late! He should be sacked as his judgement is obviously compromised and he is not up to the job

John Campbell has a nerve criticising the Christchurch City Council’s CEO salary when his salary is grossly excessive. And what does he do for society to justify his bloated income? Nothing. Whereas Marryat has huge responsibilities running the Council. I don’t hear Campbell offering to take a pay cut.
