A Christchurch family believe they saw a convoy of UFOs travelling above their house – and say they’ve got the pictures to prove it.

It comes a day after secret documents of UFO sightings were released by the New Zealand Defence Force.

Caught on video is what is thought to be one of 10 UFOs travelling in a convoy above the streets of Christchurch.

Jeannine Mander spotted the series of lights moving in the sky above her house last Wednesday, at 10pm.

“Bright, bright orange lights, with a flicker in them,” she explains.

She wasn’t the only one to see the UFO, with neighbours and family watching on the deck.

“I believe there is something out there. We are here, so there is something out there. We can’t be the only living form,” says Ms Mander.

The NZDF released over 2000 secret documents on UFO sightings over the last 70 years.

Ms Mander says what she saw was very similar to that which was recorded in Kaikoura in 1978.

But the NZ Skeptic Society says usually every unidentified object can be explained.

“There are all sorts of things that people mistake for UFOs and they call them UFOs because they don’t know what else to call them,” says NZ Skeptics Society spokesman Vicki Hyde.

“A better term is unidentified atmospheric phenomena.”

But Ms Mander believes UFOs do exist, and that she has the footage to prove it.

We just seen exactly the same thing 31/10/11 @ 10pm, we live in woolston and was getting the dog inside. there were 3 lights just like these in a diamond shape, moving closer - two droped out of sight, one returned then disapeared again and the last one moved further away until we couldnt see it.

I saw something similar 20 years ago and followed it in my car. It eventually came down in a park. A car pulled up and people got out and ran to retrieve it. It was something like a green plastic garbage bag with some sort of candle inside - ie a miniture hot air balloon. It certainly looked strange in the air but it was just a prank - it explains the orange color, the flickering, and the dark shape when the flame finally went out.

About 25 years ago when he was ninteen he was driving along the road in the early hours of the morning when he looked up at the sky and saw a huge ball that he claimes looked exactly as the one in the video that is shown. A great big fiery ball in the middle of christchurch night sky. He later did some research and found out that these are called Foo Fighters, apparently during WW2 fighter pilots saw them when flying.

I am a sceptic but cannot explain it and the fact that the same/similar lights have been seen elsewhere??? You make your own mind up.

Was standing on my deck about 10.15pm on sunday 26th december and was 3 bright orange lights moving together and forming triangular patterns, they moved slowly then turned into black spots. I continued to watch and about 10 orange lights flew over in a space of 5 minutes. I ave got the evidence to prove it on my video camera. Was definitely the most bizarre thing I ave ever seen. I rekon UFO's for sure.

My Brother and sister in law and I all saw the same thing on Wednesday last week, and we are in Papakura, South of Auckland. It looked like a fire ball and was moving across the sky and looked like it speed up at times and then slowed down. It then started flickering and then "went out". But I could still see a black "spot" moving in and out of the clouds......Very weird sooooo glad someone got it on film!!!
