Christchurch City Council will today move to adopt the final draft Central City Plan.

Features include a height restriction on inner city buildings, a 30-metre green belt on the banks of the Avon River, and a light rail link from the city to the University.

Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker says the plan has come a long way in a record amount of time.

“Through all of that initial sharing of ideas and brilliance that came from our community, and refining the rules and packages.

“After all the deliberations and bringing it back to the council. We’ll be sending it off to the minister with our very best Christmas wishes.”

Final sign off of the plan is required by government.
