Around 20,000 New Zealanders are diagnosed with cancer each year. Of those, nearly half die.
Bevan and Jody Condin's son is one currently battling the disease. He has leukaemia and at three years old he's had it for more than half his life.
So when his mum, Jody saw a local church advertising the cure for cancer she says it was a kick in the teeth and wanted answers.
Mihingarangi Forbes went searching for the church leaders with big promises.

My father's friend is currently healing from a motorbike accident. The doctors thought he wouldn't survive as he was in a coma and severely injured. The church I attend prayed for his healing and today he is not only awake but talking and moving his limbs. It isn't cancer but Jesus is healing him! Lyle told our church that the billboard was put up to show how good God is (Christians don't lie).

Soooo its not okay to put this billboard up filled with hope but it is okay for those millions of billboards about sex for all of our young kids to see ??

Look up a world without cancer, even if these guys are giving food supplements in their program it would be enough to heal anyone. Anything is better than Chemotherapy. The best prevention is apricot kernels.

A flower is only pretty for a season, we are only alive for a bit. What do you have to lose?, I have lost loved ones to cancer, I have had loved ones healed of cancer, the one thing they all had in common was the will to fight. So a doctor says you have so long to live... do you give up?, what do you have to lose? it is not rash to say meditation- clean living and I don't know therapy sessions is going to help cure cancer, why not try everything, why not try God. It isn't fair to say something doesn't work, when you haven't tried it, maybe all the praying in the world won't bring back your loved ones, maybe you would know if you started to believe in healing instead of settling for a doctors opinion or a therapist opinion, I'm not saying stop treatment, just don't trust a person who is in danger of suffering the same disease as you, to tell you your "chances" of survival, might be for the better to look into the bible, before judging it, I'm not concerned if your a Christian or not, I just want you to try everything. Say my loved ones who were battling cancer tried to fight by resisting people wanting to help, people using their own resources, not asking for money, or fame, or anything, genuine selfless people, if they were not wanting to try that, then they have already lost a battle. If I had cancer I would try everything in my human ability to fight it. because in the end what do you have to lose?

This is a message of hope from Pastor Lyle to a community that he and Equippers church members want to give to you, the only disgusting thing here is that people are not willing to look to the truth that is advertised in this statement on the billboard. It's about time people started to stand up and start listenting to the TRUTH that Jesus really does heal, not just cancer but all diseases. Instead of mocking and complaining go and try it out and se what happens, i'm believing that those who mock it, then try it, will testify to it as well that Jesus really does HEAL. Go Jesus Go Pastor Lyle

understanding is the key here. I've personally seen cancer cured with herbal oil. Maybe he has a secret oil.
research has shown that stuff like NDGA (chaparral), Chrysin (passion flower & green tea, Apigesin (camomile, green tea) destroy cancer cells. only problem was you can't get enough to do no good. chaparraltonic got the oil out, maybe the church did.

what a load of ignorant rubbish. Cancer is an umbrella term that covers many diseases that have a certain amount of similarity - but also have many differences. While modern scientific medicine does not have a single 100% guaranteed cure for all cancers, it does have many, many treatments that have varying cure success rates. For example one of the best success rates is something like 90-95% with thyroid cancer, while the worst is something like
2% with pancreatic cancer. The success rate also increases when cancer is detected early.
So any doctor who simply states 'no doctor can cure cancer' should consider becoming a plumber (or similar). My wife was treated for cancer and THANKS TO MODERN MEDICINE is
now cancer free. Are you seriously claiming no one has been successfully treated for cancer by modern medicine? If you are you must be on some other planet. What continually baffles me is that in this story the pastor has admitted that all those cured of cancer remained on their medical treatments! so how dishonest and disingenuous to
then claim the people were cured by jesus! Astounding level of cognitive dissonance.

Five members of my family have been diagnosed with cancer over the years. In each case from every doctor, oncologist, and urologist we heard words like:"No doctor can cure cancer, if one stated this, then he/she would be struck off the medical register. If we could cure cancer we would be millionaires" My challenge is: find a doctore who says he/she can cure cancer and name him/her and suply his/her phone number as we sure would want to see this doctor !!. I think you will find you get the same answer that we did. So the question is....WHO healed those who are now medically diagnosed to be cancer free? Prayer does cost you anything to give it a try, seems to me to be a great (only?) option.
Te Papa is our national museum but is it now a national disgrace?
Since Anchor released their new milk bottles the company has been inundated with calls from angry consumers.
When a Rotorua couple lost their much loved family dog five months ago, they were sure he'd been stolen and they would never see him again.
Opotiki in the eastern Bay of Plenty has one sushi shop. The locals love it so much they've gone into battle for its owners.
This is a story of two women. Both are New Zealanders and both have a terrible and fatal disease.
