I hope they send her to PAWS. She will be happy there. She may have just snapped or not realized how powerful she is.

I have been to PAWS and I know Mila will be SO happy. Please send her to PAWS so she can be with other elephants that are happy. She was frustrated and killed her owner by mistake. Let her live!!

African elephants belong in Africa hense the name why are they not considering this, if she is pinning for her friend then return her to her friend. No ffence to all the so called handelers but how would you know what is te right way to handle Africa elephants hav you walked in their foot steps lived a year even in their natural enviroment. If not ten you have no idea about anything todo with africa and elephants... All zoo's and circuses should be closed they are out date tourture places designed to entertain uncompassionate uneducated uncaring humans, ayone who does care for animals and want to see them buys or rents a documentry and see how they live naturaly in their own enviroments... Put her down at your own peril as it will just confirm that you are no better than trophy hunters or animal abusers....

Surely somewhere in Australia has the necessary facilities to accommodate Mila? She's an elephant and the notion of putting her down is in discussion? We need more elephants not less. There must be an alternative to California (in terms of money required).

The inflated price of saving Mila is an abomination. Expensive yes, but nowhere near that kind of money. How dare they even consider euthanizing this majestic animal who, through no fault of her own, wound up in captivity. Please let her live and solicit the help of the air cargo transport military in the USA for Mila's transfer to California.

Thanks to 3News for covering this story, especially for devoting over 10 minutes to Mila and the PAWS sanctuary. Nice job, and both Mila and PAWS deserve the airtime!

Thank you Campbell Live for all your care and media coverage for animal welfare. Happy Feet, Kaimanawa horses and now Mila the Elephant. I'm proud to say your coverage has prompted me to give generously, as I'm sure many others have as well. Thanks for caring.

I read with horror the ill informed and false statements regarding Milla's so called ill treatment while she was with the Circus. That statement is a Lie. Milla was at all times a happy and well adjusted animal who was not only looked after properly but her care was overseen by the authoroties including the SPCA. You cannot find any record of ill treatment anywhere because there simply was no ill treatment. It is only since she came into the hands of amateurs that her troubles have begun. And even the Zoo people can not see the truth of Mila's pining for her old friend and companion. You are all playing politics with a faithfull and loyal animal that wants only to see her friend and trainer of over 30 years once again. It is He that should be with her now in her time of distress and trouble. It is He that should take her to the sanctuary, and the rest of you, who know nothing of about Elephant handling should concentrate on raising the money for her future. What happens to Mila will say more about us as a Nation than you could ever realize.

Is there a street appeal for Mila? I would be happy to collect on her behalf.
