How about reporting on the discracefull decission at 5:35pm to close the river leg at 5:45pm. After all day being advised that there was no cut off time 35 people including overseas competitors arrived at the Avon to be told they couldnt carry on. Its okay to Kayake a grade 2 river until 8:30pm but not okay to kayake a pond till 8:00pm. This is an absolute discrace what was done and the 35 people they let down should be refunded and have the bibs they took from them returned. The handling of this years event was nothing short of discracefull. Im certain that those no professionals from overseas will now think twice about visiting Christchurch for this event.
