Apalling. The new Water commissioners are the Douglas, Act, Brash collaborators, enablers, lapdogs, servants and decoys. At a green meeting at the Holliday Inn in the Avon Loop in 2005, I suggested that real sustainability suggested the need to stop dairy conversions alltogether. Jeanette Fitzimmons giggled and said it was bit difficult and after all dairy was NZs best export earner. But many respectable greens told me outside that they agreed with me. A economic policy of growth through doubling milk production on unsuitable and unsustainable land is wrong. The idea that any rural hick with no merits or education can make a mint by converting and going into the milk industry and rural predators in the corporate scene milk him e even more is even more wrong.

yawn. Luke, or you could realise that ECAN has been a mess for quite some time, a mess that labour ignored, and a mess that if continued to be ignored would of seen the death of ECAN as all district councils were about to dump ECAN. And looking at polls the past few years, our mayor more than has the support of the people for her stand against ECAN.

Smart Sanctions for Coup Plotters & Vote Out Those who Killed Regional Democracy. Just as the NZ Govt has imposed smart sanctions against Fiji coup plotters in order to focus on the perpetrators and beneficiaries of the coup, I say we should impose smart sanctions on Canterbury ECan coup plotters and collaborators. I think these should include business interests of government actors in this affair, commissioners and Creech report authors. Also I call on all citizens to kick out the District Council members & central govt MP's who have so lightly taken away our democratic rights. Smart sanctions will compliment the growing local resistance of citizen petitions and rates revolts. Business interests of the collaborators can be searched at the companies office website: www.coys.co.nz. As well as boycotting business interests I call on Cantabrians not to provide goods, services or comfort to govt members or commissioners who are involved in this outrage against our democracy. Sadly though, I feel that NZ Govt will be able to lift smart sanctions against Fiji plotters before the citizens of Canterbury see their regional democracy restored. To quote Louis Dembitz Brandeis : "We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both."
