The cold blast that's battered the country, sweeping all the way from Dunedin up to the North Island has had one positive, laying on a good late season snowfall for competitors at this week's extreme free skiing competition at Mt Ruapehu.
Skiers and snowboarders alike have been enjoying the 2.5m base on Turoa and the 1.8m base on Whakapapa.
The sun has also been out for riders today.
