One of the less-expected results from Saturday was the Conservative Party.

Piggybacking on the profile of Auckland investor Colin Craig and his many millions of dollars, the Conservatives got more votes than four other parties which are represented in parliament.

With 55,000 votes it is the fifth most popular party in the country. Not bad when you consider that a couple of months ago they did not even exist.

Lachlan Forsyth spoke with leader Colin Craig about the party, its performance, and its plans.

I read some lovely stories about Colin and his family in the papers. He is a keen frugal shopper despite his wealth. He leaves out his hand knitted days at Cocklebay Primary. As does Paul Henry his. Is it a conspiracy old boys network conspiracy ?
