The Government requirement for an independent report seems to me to be unnecessary. In effect it is the same as conducting a third trial. Why doesn’t the Government use the result of the last trial to decide whether compensation should be paid

Judith Collins appears to have accepted the crown's word without question. In doing so, she is as at fault as she claims Binnie is. It sounds like this whole thing would be much more fair and even-handed if Power was still in charge. Bain may still not have got compensation but in my opinion the process to decide that would have been more fair. That Collins has basically trawled to get the answer she prefers does a huge injustice to our whole justice system. I personally now have no faith at all that any decision made will be unbiased and rigorous.
