What makes us who we are as a nation? Why do some of us succeed, while others fail? Little Amber's birth is more than just nature's miracle. She's one of thousands of New Zealand babies being tracked in the most ambitious project of its type. Aiming to answer the most fundamental of questions... why do people turn out the way they do?

We're alongside the research - getting to know six new Kiwis from inside the womb, to birth, and through their first crucial year.

The survey, by Growing Up In New Zealand, is the biggest of its kind ever in New Zealand.
