The name “Comrade Duch” could go down in history as one of the most notorious torturers and killers. Duch is said to be responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people during the Khmer Rouge reign of terror from 1975 to 1979 in Cambodia. Among his victims, two Australians: David Scott and Ron Dean.
Back in 1978, they set out on a sailing adventure, and ended up in Duch’s jail. Like so many casualties of war, their story was largely forgotten, filed away in the too hard basket. But there was one man who refused to forget.
And now, after 30 years, finally there's justice. In the next few days an international tribunal delivers its verdict on comrade Duch.
