Michael Jackson's imprisoned physician Dr Conrad Murray has requested the use of a publicly-funded attorney to help him appeal his involuntary manslaughter conviction.
The doctor was sentenced to serve four years behind bars last month and he subsequently parted ways with his defence team lawyers Ed Chernoff and J. Michael Flanagan.
He is planning to challenge the guilty verdict and is asking a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to appoint a new legal representative to take on his case.
In new legal papers filed on Tuesday, Murray claims he lacks the funds to pay for a new lawyer and wants to exercise his constitutional right to assistance of counsel.
Murray was found guilty of administering the fatal dose of anaesthetic propofol, which cost Jackson his life.
