Conservative Party's first conference

The millionaire leader of the Conservative Party has warned he's stalking Parliament with footsteps of doom.
Colin Craig had the usual suspects in his sights at his party's first-ever annual conference, but also had a foreboding message for the Ministry of Education.
His words to the party faithful were well received.
“We are like passengers on a plane that has been hijacked by the flight crew themselves,” he said.
And then it was on to cows.
“One of them turns to the other and goes, where are we going?” he continued.
Frodo and the Hobbit came next, but his supporters weren't worried about the metaphors, nor the awkward way he lumped some issues together.
“People are leaving, with emigration and suicide at record levels.”
They'd come to celebrate their progress and plot the future.
The party has gone from zero to 87,000 supporters and counting in one year. They got more votes than four of the parties currently in Parliament, but failed to reach the 5 percent threshold needed to gain a seat.
Mr Craig is in no doubt they'll succeed at the next election.
“We are the footsteps of doom to those who would be unaccountable,” he said to the conference. “To those who would socially re-engineer our nation.”
He'd like to re-engineer the Ministry of Education and slash its $800 million running costs.
“Which is an awful lot of money when we need those resources in the classroom and on the frontline.”
His party is willing to discuss working with whoever wins the most seats in the next Parliament.

Havn't you noticed that come election time we are left to choose between a couple of rich people. And it's a crime not to vote for either. Seems politics is the preferred employment option for dumb rich people.

when Mitt Romney fails in America maybe Colin can open up a space for him on his party list. God help us all if that happens....

@James christianity is more in line with socialism than it is with tory beliefs thats for sure.
For Craig to consider a coalition with National would be in essence for him to go against god.
National isnt about helping people, its about helping itself and its mates.
And Christ threw the likes of Key out of the temples in jeruselum anyway.
I have always upheld the belief that there is no such thing as a right wing christian.
And craig can be very right wing... as well as nuts.

There's a verse in the Bible about it being harder for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heavan than for a camel to get through the eye of a needle... and Colin Craig is definitely a rich man. Should answer your question.

Only if this guy has realized that Millionaires are nothing in the scheme of things, will he do anything for the people.
American millionaires are disappearing fast. Only the sycophants & the very rich & poor will survive this CORPORATE TAKE OVER. WHY? because people wont look below the surface to see what is really going on.
Will he force the opening of the COMPREHENSIVE Budgets of Govt local/national will we see how govt is NOT broke & we are just doing what all other countries are doing to break the backs of their people.
Nothing is an accident or poor leadership, Its all planned.
Betcha you don't print this.

Sad to see someone with such potential wasted due to his ancient beliefs that have no future for todays society. He needs to find a way to seperate politics from his religious teachings. No one wants to go back to the dark ages even though with Key at the helm evem that sounds appealing.

While I accept that there needs to be a place for a range of views in the democratic poltical system, it is sad to see recidivist thinkers coming to the fore with their binary thinking. Today in an increasingly globalised postmodern world-we need creative thinkers who focus on solutions to complex problems that we all grapple with. Colin Craig and his ilk are desperately trying to hold onto some percieved better bygone era where sexim, homophobia, racism, domestic violence and other prejudices were hidden and not confronted. Lets hope he doesn't gain momentum. Colin Craig has a narrow view, and would do more harm than good in government in my opinion.
