Residents of a Glenfield house on Auckland’s North Shore are assisting police with their enquiries into an alleged firearms incident.
The AOS was called out after reporters of a possible gunshot in the area round 11.15am this morning.
Members of the public were asked not to walk down Glenfield Rd, near Wairau Rd, in order to avoid getting in the “line of fire”.
North Shore police spokesman Kev Loughlin confirmed the AOS had been called to an incident in the Glenfield Rd/James St area.
No further comment would be made until the incident was over, Mr Loughlin said.
The address has since been cleared and cordons in the area lifted.
Police are continuing their enquiries and are speaking with three occupants at the address.
Earlier today witnesses told the Stuff website police were been using a loud hailer outside a Glenfield Rd property, in an attempt to get those inside to come out.
Two women were escorted from a property in the same street around 1pm this afternoon.
Residents were told to stay indoors.
A negotiator was heard yelling through a loud hailer that AOS had the property “completely surrounded”.
AOS on two SUVs and four police cars were seen entering the cordon via James St earlier this afternoon. An ambulance is also in attendance.
