The Acting Chief Coroner Garry Evans has opened an inquiry into the death of Henderson toddler Aisling Symes.
In a statement released today, Mr Evans says he will in due course sit at inquest into the cause and circumstances of her death.
The body of two-year-old Aisling was discovered in a drain 200m from where she was last seen on Monday night - almost one week to the very hour since she went missing.
Results from a post-mortem examination yesterday revealed Aisling's death was consistent with a drowning. Police have ruled out foul play.
Police have identified and spoken to an Asian woman thought to be a key witness into the toddler's disappearance.
Inspector Gary Davey, who has headed up the Aisling case, said police talked with the woman over night and that she had been ruled out of the investigation.
“She is no longer part of our inquiries relating to Aisling’s disappearance,” he said.
Mr Davey would not reveal what information the woman told police.
The Asian woman, described as in her 30s, was reported to have been walking her dog behind Aisling on the night she disappeared.
A team of 30 police staff are continuing to carry out background inquiries into the Aisling case.
Mr Davey has thanked the community for their cooperation and compassion in the case.
"We sincerely thank all the many members of the public who have delivered messages, beautiful cards prepared by children, flowers and other tributes," he said.
