Insurance: It is something you never want to have to call on, but something you definitely want to have when you need it.
But many insurance customers may not be aware that an insurance company is perfectly within its rights to cancel your policy if it finds something about you that you'd neglected to tell them - and what's more, it doesn't matter if you genuinely couldn't remember about that piece of information.
The Insurance Ombudsman wants to see the law changed to offer consumers greater protection, but until that happens consumers are being warned that a bad memory could see their policy declared null and void.
