Tens of thousands of people lined the streets of London as the Olympic flame nears the end of its marathon journey today .
It has travelled past some of the city’s most famous landmarks.
It was carried to the steps of St Pauls, the Globe Theatre, across the Millenium Bridge, Downing Street and then Buckingham Palace. Upon arrival, Olympic ambassadors the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, with Prince Harry, welcomed the torch.
The Olympic spirit is now well and truly running through the streets of London, as people found any vantage point they could to see the flame.
As the torch made its way to a concert in Hyde Park, there were plenty of celebrity appearances.
London’s Mayor Boris Johnson was overwhelmed by the occasion.
“I have never seen anything like this in all my life,” he said. “The excitement is growing so much, I think the Geiger counter of Olympomania is going to zoink off the scale.”
Expectations for the Opening Ceremony are going off the scale too and organisers have urged those who have seen rehearsals not to give away any secrets.
All will be revealed when the ceremony takes place tomorrow morning NZT.
