Waikato farmers can continue to walk their stock across roads after winning a temporary reprieve from the local council.

A protest was organised yesterday against new health and safety plans which will see permits introduced to move livestock, and farmers eventually forced to pay up $100,000 to build underpasses

As a result of yesterday's meeting the permit fee has been waived until further notice, and the deadline for building underpasses pushed back two years to 2018.
