A Kiwi bred horse and major contender for this weekend's Cox Plate, More Joyous, has found herself stuck in the middle a bust up between two of Australian horse racing's most colourful personalities.

Owner John Singleton is fuming ahead of Saturday's big race after trainer Gai Waterhouse ignored his instructions to gain an inside barrier.

He labelled her decision to opt for gate 11 as mad and suicidal.
