If you dont want foreign ownership of NZ assets, instead of moaning and blaming everyone else, get off your butts and help bring the NZ bids up to the other offers.

End of the day its about the best bid when something is sold. Of course Winnie and David will talk big but do nothing. Have they even reached into their own pockets for $1 to help the NZ bids - get real as they dont care about NZ enough to do that even with the garbage they preach.

As Andrew Harris mentioned, NZ already owes billions to China so the Crafar farms are small change in the scheme of things.

The Anti-Free-Trade brigade forgets to mention that NZ lives on our exports, ie our trade access. Yes the FTA does give access for China to NZ, but it also gives access to China for NZ. China is the biggest country in the world but Winnie and David would prefer we did Ostrich impersonations and burried our heads in the sand!

The world recession is happening from excessive social policies, ie too much welfare with countries living beyond their incomes. In that way NZ is not so different and we need to cut back welfare/govt spending to sustainable levels.

a figure of 1% of NZ farmland owned by overseas investors is bandied about and we are told such a low figure is nothing to be getting worried about. That means 1 in a 100 acres is foreign owned. That is a lot of Frisian and Herefords. So if the Chinese are new to the market , who owns this quite significant slice of the NZ cheese? Are German and Russian invaders easier to open our gates to and lie down with?
