A “crazed” bus driver in China has attacked and chewed the face of a woman in the latest spate of alleged cannibal attacks, leaving the victim needing extensive plastic surgery.
According to the UK paper the Independent the attack occurred in the city of Wenzhou, in China’s south east, and was caught on camera and posted on YouTube.
The newspaper reported that the bus driver, known as Dong, had been drinking heavily before he ran out onto a busy street and stopped traffic.
He then jumped onto the bonnet of a car, driven by his victim, Du, and battered on her windscreen.
After Du jumped out of her car and tried to escape it is reported that Dong chased after her. When he caught her he proceeded to bite her face, leaving her with extensive damage to her nose and lips.
Witnesses say that passers-by attempted to pull Dong off Du but that he was in a “crazed” state and were unable to.
Police eventually turned up at the scene and restrained and arrested the man.
The attack is at least the sixth case of alleged cannibal attacks recently.
In May the world was shocked when Eugene Rudy ate the face off 65-year-old homeless man Ronald Poppo in Miami. Police shot and killed the 31-year-old during the incident.
Also in May a 21-year-old Morgan State University student, Alexander Kinyua, admitted to murdering his roommate Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie and eating his brain and heart.
In the same month. Canadian porn star Luka Magnotta allegedly murdered his lover in Montreal and then mailed the body parts of the victim to political offices in Ottawa. In a video posted online a man believed to be Magnotta is seen eating parts of the flesh of the murdered man.
In June, 26-year-old Charles Baker entered his girlfriend’s house and bit and ate a chunk of a man’s arm before being tasered and tackled by police.
In another reported incident a 21-year-old man entered a restaurant in Florida and tried to bite the hand of a police officer.
