Biblical museum ads feature dinosaurs

A Kentucky museum where dinosaurs roam the biblical Garden of Eden is unveiling a national billboard campaign featuring the popular prehistoric reptiles.
The cartoon billboards for the Creation Museum are appearing in several cities including Chicago, San Francisco and Houston and feature colourful dinosaurs drawn in a vintage comic book style.
The popular attraction in northern Kentucky that opened in 2007 has drawn controversy and thousands of visitors with exhibits that challenge evolution and present the Old Testament's creation story.
Dinosaurs are at the centre of campaign because they get the public's attention, said Ken Ham, founder of the Christian ministry Answers in Genesis.
"People love dinosaurs," Ham said. "Whenever a dinosaur exhibit comes to town, people are fascinated by that."
Ham said there are 20 different billboard styles, though some feature other prehistoric animals like mastodons. A billboard near Interstate 64 in Louisville features a flying pterodactyl and says the museum is "101 miles ahead". So far the signs have appeared in 25 states.
The high-tech museum near Cincinnati has animatronic dinosaurs, models and fossils, and teaches that the giant reptiles were created by God in a matter of days along with all other living things a few thousand years ago. Paleontologists say fossil evidence shows dinosaurs were present on the earth tens of millions of years ago, well before humans arrived.
Science educators that have long criticised the museum and said the Creation Museum's campaign is meant to attract young people interested in dinosaurs to a place that delivers a religious message and a version of history that conflicts with scientific findings.
"It's a hook, it's a bait to get people to say, 'Hey let's go to that museum' - and then the other message is brought out," said Steven Newton, a program director at the National Center for Science Education in Oakland, Calif.
Dinosaurs have been a draw to other museums and destinations for years. Perhaps the most notable is the Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil known as "Sue" at Chicago's Field Museum. In Kentucky, the Louisville Zoo is running a temporary exhibit this year with 12 dinosaur models and a fossil dig for children.
Newton said science centres should be employing powerful marketing strategies like the Creation Museum's campaign.
"I think it's a real shame that there aren't science museums that are competing in the same way, with the same sort of advertising with the same sort of budgets," he said.
Ham said Answers in Genesis spent about a half-million dollars on the campaign, but is asking museum members to chip in and sponsor more billboards to get them up in other sites.
Mary Allen, who lives near the Louisville billboard, said her three-year-old grandson first noticed the pterodactyl sign, calling it "the big bird".
Allen said the sign is eye-catching, but said she hasn't visited the Creation Museum because "I just don't think that's how the world was created".

@LB. The Bible doesn't provide the blueprint of the design - just the dimensions. It would be similar in size to the super tankers of today - they do not sink (unless human error occurs).
@Bruce. If you were to flatten all the mountains down and fill in seabeds, the water would cover the whole earth completely. So the water is still very much there. There are massive amounts of scientific proof about the Biblical claims of things. Scientific evidence does not support evolution - it never has and never will. It was this "evidence" of evolution which convinced me of creation. Shame really....

I'll answer your question with a question name 5 stories from the bible that we have 100% proof of taking place? meaning you can see and touch.
Secondly, about the great flood there is no evidence of it. Just religious people desperate to prove that it happen. Also as for the Ark if you follow the design in the bible its been proven it would sunk straight away and they no trees big enough to make it according to biblical texts design.

@Nick, what you are saying is that sedimentary layers are proof of a great flood. are you aware there are several layers of sediment? how many great floods has earth experienced according to your Bible? If your biblical great flood occurred. where is all that water now? if that much of the earth was flooded. you would never see land again. where did it all disappear to? You ask how has the bible been ripped apart? where are the dragons, witches, warlocks, goblins, monsters etc, the bible claim exist? Where is this "hell fire" we know of as the "earths crust". according to christian belief, something cannot emerge from nothing. ok, who is God, where did he come from? who were his parents? how many gods are their? Why is their absolutely no scientific proof supporting the Bibles claims? there should be archeological evidence or geological evidence. there is none! Science explains how something can come from nothing. for more information. please read my book "A History Life On Earth" available from Amazon, worldwide. All scientific evidence supports evolution. All fossil evidence in sedimentary layers supports evolution.

LB, mate climate change, disease, lack of technology would not impact it anywhere near what you believe. I have already rolled back the doubling to 150 years which is a LOT slower than current levels. It is very conservative.
Perhaps you could give examples of how the Bible is ripped apart and proven fairy tale? I would like to see these examples.
There is plenty of evidence for a global flood. Sedimentary rock formations are actually proof - filtering of sediments in water. There is incredible proof of a global catastrophic flood. The problem is that scientists cannot admit God exists and the Bible is right and therefore discount or interpret things completely differently to what facts often suggest.

1) There never was a great flood in other words the story of Noah is just that a story.
2) Disease, climate change, lack of technology are just a few reasons why the population didn't grow as large as you think it should have.
3) Actually the bible has been ripped apart meaning there is more fairy tale rather than fact.
4) Actually sorry Nick there is no evidence of Jesus. Just think about it there was NOTHING written about "Jesus" until 30-70 years after his death. By the way we only have proof of the man who put him to death the rest including Jesus there is NONE!

Why are there not many, many times more people around today? If people have been around for hundreds of thousands of years, where are they all? Assume (conservatively) that people have been here for 50,000 years...again, make an assumption that the world's population doubles every 150 years (in reality it is quicker even accounting for disease etc). In 50,000 years, the population doubles itself about 332 times. That gives a population of 1 followed by 100 zeros - a huge number. Where are these people??
If we say the population of the earth about 4800 years ago (after the flood) was 8 (Noah and family), and assume the same rate of doubling. That leads to approx 32 times the population doubles and we end up with a population of approx 8 billion. This happens to be rather close to estimates currently of world population...
So again, where are the people? Why is the world not grossly over crowded?
Fossils do not support evolution at all. There are hundreds of examples of fossilised trees going through multiple sedimentary layers...if each layer is supposed to represent millions of years, that poses a problem.
A large number of scientists are embarrassed by Dawkins and his logic and especially that book. It is not really doing any service citing him.
There are so many different examples on why the earth is young etc. I do not have enough characters.
The fact is, the Bible has been under intense scrutiny for a long time and has been proven time and time again. It's account for creation also stacks up.
In this regard, the information is has about sin and our Saviour, the Lord Jesus, must also be accurate (and there is plenty of outside evidence of Jesus' existence). Namely, we are sinners and need to repent and be reconciled to a Holy God through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

If Humans occupied the earth along with Dinosaurs. where is the paleontological evidence? where are the human fossils dating back millions of years? according to the christian bible, the Earth is only 6 thousand years old. Yet Dinosaurs roamed the Earth over 65 Million years ago. There is absolutely no Paleontological or geological evidence supporting the old testament stories. The evidence for Evolution is overwhelming.

@Nick and TDOG, It seems both of you are quite unaware of what Evolution by means of natural selection is. That's understandable as it has many initially difficult to grasp concepts. You could try some of the many excellent books on Evolution by Richard Dawkins "The Greatest Show on Earth" being one that assumes no previous understanding. If you find Evolution illogical then either you don't understand what logic is or you know nothing about Evolution.

Thank about that for a minute.

and the religious version is logical? really? you would put belief into someone(Jesus) who we have no proof ever existed? and is there one bit of evidence that god exists? and dont get me started on the bible. When it comes to evolution we have evidence eg. fossils what do you have?
