Fire crews in Northland are set to resume fighting a blaze threatening farms and a pine plantation.
The fire, near Kellys Bay Road in Pouto on the Kaipara Harbour, broke out about 9.30am on Tuesday.
The fire has spread across 180 hectares of bush and about 60 firefighters spent the day working to bring the blaze under control, along with four helicopters using monsoon buckets.
Two diggers and two bulldozers were also being used.
A fire service northern communications spokeswoman told NZ Newswire crews withdrew overnight and will resume operations on Wednesday morning.
The fire is being treated as suspicious.
