The Croatian tourism official who labelled Kiwi and Aussie tourists as "drunk and crazy" has lost her job.
Pave Zupan Ruskovic, a former tourism minister in the Croatian government and destination manager for Dubrovnik, told a local newspaper she'd prefer it if tourists from New Zealand and Australia didn't visit the ancient city.
"Already when entering the city they are drunk and crazy. And that's absolutely not appropriate for any city and in particular for Dubrovnik," she told the Dubrovacki List.
Ms Ruskovic said trip organisers were asked to keep their tours away from the city, or else they would have to implement rules to deter rowdy visitors.
"This summer season we've had an increased number of visits from young people from Australia and New Zealand and we were not delighted," she said.
"It would be better if they did not come."
But the comments have not got gone down well with Dubrovnik's mayor, who said he wouldn't be renewing her contract as the city's tourism destination manager.
Andro Vlahusic said Dubrovnik was an open and free city where all guests were welcome, and the official's comments were unacceptable, the Croatian Times reported.
Dubrovnik is known for its ancient city walls and was once described as the "pearl of the Adriatic".
