Of course it matters where they come from if a dog was treated like this the owner would be fined or sent to jail.all animals have the same rights!!

Whether they are factory farmed or naturally farmed they all taste like pork. So who cares where they come from. Michael King lied on TV that he knows nothing about the problem. I came here recently and I know about the campaign, hes been here all his life and he claimed that he doesnt. Lost a lot of money from the ads, right. Men are made to rule over the earth and its contents.

it was the tragic long pig 'toe-nails' that resulted in me, from then on, only eating free-range bacon. Boo-hoo, not so much bacon. Rather live with only 'some bacon' than their aboninable suffering. Thanks Silo-man, Michael King and everyone else who is spear-heading these changes. As it took 30 years to popularize free range eggs so it now will be with bacon, ham and pork.

How you treat animals, children and the elderly says a lot about a country/people. I don't think we score that well in any of them. If you dont like something dont buy it - buy free range products - pork, chicken, eggs. I don't support current pig farming that has pigs in crates full time. I don't buy pork that is marked from local and imported ingredients because overseas I believe is worse.I buy freedom farms pork. If you don't like whaling, stop buying Japanese goods. If you don't like pollution stop buying things made in China. It costs to make a stand, the poorest in our community may not find it that affordable - so we should remove GST from all food.

This guy is fab, he is standing up for what he believes in. I am a vegan and for the same reason, I am not way as I don't want to be a part of herting animals. Besides being vegan is much better for system, I am healther than I have ever been.

As Sir Paul McCartney said, "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be vegan."

I find it intolerable that humans ( who are also an animal)can enjoy their bacon.ham and pork chops at the expense of an other animal's (pig) horrific suffering. Let animals live naturaly and curtail our inhumanity.

Sorry but you are all missing the real point. Any farming system has pro's and con's regardless if it is outdoor or indoor. It is farmers who miss treat animals who should be force out any farming.
The earliest sows in Europe used to burrow into the ground and spend the winter not able to turn around. They are a solitary animal by nature. They are not "group" amimals and are not suited to being put into groups as everyone would have you beleive. Buy Pork and support local Kiwi farmers.

Yes we need to find a better way but not at the decimation of the pork industry. None of you seem concerned about the amount of pork we already import all from crate farming, let alone importing masses more when we already have a balance of payments problem. Pigs will fight and babys canabilsed if in open paddocks.
