Three years ago two ambitious girls began their journey to create their own fashion label.
We brought you their first collection last year, but now the Cuda Sisters are back with their second show, full of glitter, glamour, and of course girl power
It's a matter of minutes before show time, and the Cuda Sisters are putting the last pieces in place.
Mana Harknett and Megan Thompson are on a mission to bring colour, confidence and girl power to New Zealand fashion.
“So the show is divided up into three sections,” Ms Thompson says. “It’s going to run from dark magic to white wood-landy, forestly magic, and then we have all our sun kissed goddesses.”
She says they usually have the same aim.
“We totally always go for woman power, we can’t help ourselves. We are meant to be making hearts bleed. That’s what we always say.”
And subtlety has no place here.
“We always aim to bring back the theatrical side to things, we want that show time feeling,” Ms Thompson says. “Some people look at our clothes and say ‘oh they’re really costumey’, but we think ‘yes’! That’s what we want.”
Hopefully that's also what stockists want, the girls say they're ready to be taken more seriously in the New Zealand fashion industry.
“It’s just something we planed on working on for a really long time,” Ms Harknett says. “And constantly bringing a little more magic to Auckland and New Zealand and hopefully the world.”
The collection is available online and the Cuda Sisters hope it will soon be in shops as well, but in the mean time the show entitled "A Magic Moment" has lived up to its name.
