British actor Benedict Cumberbatch will do battle with his Sherlock co-star Martin Freeman in the Lord of the Rings prequel.
Cumberbatch will give voice to the villainous dragon Smaug in The Hobbit, which features Freeman as hero Bilbo Baggins and many members of the Lord of The Rings movie trilogy, including Sir Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom.
Clash of the Titans star Luke Evans has also been added to the cast - he'll play Bard the Bowman.
