It was the last place Michael Clarke thought he'd be standing this morning.
Even he was shocked to see his side pull off an unlikely win in the second test against South Africa to share the series.
“What an amazing series,” Clarke says.
“I think from all the supporters back home and in South Africa I think they've seen a great indication of where test cricket is at.”
His team were in trouble at the start of the day needing a 168 to win, and Clarke fell for just two.
Ricky Ponting wasn't far behind, with some wondering if this was this his last innings for Australia.
With the proteas sensing blood, they went in for the kill, but with Brad Haddin fighting for his place in the side he dug in with Mitchell Johnson, the pair adding 50 from 50 balls.
Once Haddin fell for 55, the Aussie tail was exposed.
They needed 18 runs with two wickets in hand when teenage debutant Pat Cummins arrived at the crease.
He survived a scare, but after taking six wickets yesterday, he sealed a man of the match performance by hitting the winning runs to cap an incredible debut/
His performances make him a certain starter against the Black Caps in Brisbane next week.
