Labtests' initial service was shaky, at best

After a very shaky start, Auckland's blood test provider Labtests has been given the seal of approval by the DHB.

The Australian company took over from Diagnostic Medlab last year, but was besieged by problems from the outset, including late, misdirected and incorrect test results.

Auckland District Health Board chair Pat Snedden says changing specimen testing services has been a learning curve.

Mr Sneddon says Labtests is now well on the way to providing the $10 million dollars in savings it promised the DHB when it won the contract from Diagnostic.
