Taihape pharmacists believe cuts to healthcare services will damage the town.
The Otaihape Health Trust has given the DHB and nurses' union 10 days to accept an ultimatum that would slash nurse wages by up to 30 percent and cut the office rent the trust pays the Whanganui DHB.
The trust is on the brink of bankruptcy, facing mounting debts and increasing costs.
Pharmacist Neil Riddle was at a community meeting last night where the plan was presented to the community. He says all DHBs have a responsibility to provide rural healthcare.
The trust has set a 10-day deadline for the DHB to accept the recommendations.
