Israel Dagg will start on the wing for the Crusaders in their Super Rugby opener against the Blues at Eden Park on Friday.

That means Tom Marshall will play fullback and Sean Maitland will be on the other wing.

One key All Black who won’t be there for the start of season is Dan Carter, his big shoes will be filled by the very capable Tyler Bleyendaal.

Bleyendaal will have Ryan Crotty outside him with Robbie Fruean playing at centre.

Last year the Blues and Crusaders met at Eden Park with the home side just getting home 24-22.

Crusaders: Tom Marshall, Sean Maitland, Robbie Fruean, Ryan Crotty, Israel Dagg, Tyler Bleyendaal, Andy Ellis, Kieran Read (captain), Matt Todd, George Whitelock, Samuel Whitelock, Tom Donnelly, Ben Franks, Quentin MacDonald, Wyatt Crockett. Reserves: Corey Flynn, Owen Franks, Luke Romano, Luke Whitelock, Willie Heinz, Tom Taylor, Adam Whitelock.
