I can't believe you would give your pets away after 7 years. They are apart of your family. Are you going to give your child away in 7 years when you can afford it? You make me sick you have no feelings and your not fit to be a mother if you can give your babies away.

*We bought Max & Daisy about 3 years ago as adult dogs, they settled in with us and my 3 children very well.
*I used to be home with them most days but now as I have just changed my job we are unable to be there until after work. We want them to be with someone that can usually be with them during the day & night. Also we go away a lot now for business & we feel its unfair to leave them at the dog kennelry for a few weeks at a time so we think they will be better off with owners that will be home with them more than we can be. We have had hundreds of really lovely emails re being on TV, 90% positive & would like to thank TV3 and those people for being so nice:)
*To the 10% of Sad, Judgmental people who just want to assume they know the full story & send terrible nasty hateful emails - our baby coming & not being able to afford the dogs was just one thing mentioned by my Wife on TV, other things were said but due to time restraints & normal editing the full story did not get out! So please stop sending dreadful & nasty emails to us!

Dear John oh what a waste of time putting this silly woman on your programe, can't afford these two little dogs eh, note the lovely leather lounge suite, flash rings on her hands and they will be on one wage for a short while? this money hungry thoughtless irresponsible couple have bred the money out of these dogs to get the items they have and now they want to get rid of the money machines. Shame on you both John when there are so many dogs on death rows in pounds and SPCAs that need your help far more than this silly woman, tell her to toughen up and take responsibility for her dogs they have at least earned that much, she owes them a dignified retirement with the owner who has gained so much from them. So many more sadder genuine cases than this in post quake Christchurch and many more dogs will need help when the red zoners have to move, this was not even a feel good story but upset many caring dog owners they have struggled through all sorts of hell down here but never gave up their family dog when times got tough.

You should be ashamed of yourselves Campbell Live!! These dogs have been used as breeding machines for most of their lives & now that they are getting to an age where they can't the owners decide they can't afford them. Having a child is no excuse to rehome your pets!!!! If you have a pet you have that pet for life, not just until your sick of them. If they truly love these dogs they would put money aside each week, even $10 adds up, to pay for their vaccines/registrations etc. Too many pets are rehomed when children come along. I have 3 pets, if & when I decide to have children the will grow up along side them!!

Further to my comment, I am ashamed of these people for breeding these dogs and now they are past it all they want to do is get rid of them. To the wife, when you get past your breeding age, are you going to be sold off also? Campbell Live should be ashamed for showing this story about backyard breeders, but it does highlight the fact exactly what they are about, making money and to hell with the dogs.

I find this story very sad and am surprised Campbell Live showed it, basically the dogs have passed there breeding age, can't make anymore money out of them so lets get rid of them! and we will still try and make money off them by selling them! We had 2 large dogs and 5 cats when we had our first child and they all stayed with us till end of life and yes we went down to one income to!

Don't know what happened to my comment submitted last night but here it is again. Campbell Live missed a great opportunity to highlight the plight of many dogs being rehomed because the owners circumstances have "changed". Too often animals are treated as disposable items and this case is a classic example, they should be ashamed of themselves not made out to be heroes. They don't give a toss about their dogs or they would be keeping them. The dogs have obviously passed their "use by date" and are now expendible...for a fee ofcourse...!! This happens far too often which is why so many of the pounds and rescue centres are overflowing...this is what you should have focussed on not two selfish ,greedy parasites.
