Dannii Minogue has given birth to a baby boy.
The 38-year-old star’s son was delivered at the Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, on Monday, according to the Herald Sun. It has been reported Dannii’s plans to have a home birth had to be scrapped following complications.
This is the first child for Dannii and her model boyfriend Kris Smith.
"Kris Smith and Dannii Minogue are thrilled to announce the arrival of Ethan Edward Smith on 5th July 2010,” Dannii’s representative said in a statement. "Mother and baby are doing well and dad is very proud. They request their privacy at this special time to adjust as new parents."
Dannii recently revealed she was enjoying being pregnant despite never seeing herself as the maternal type.
The singer and talent show judge admitted she was considering having a big family and wanted to “bottle” her pregnancy hormones because she was feeling so laid back.
“I never saw myself as having kids, so now it’s happened I’m still in shock. I’m the person who not that long ago said, ‘No, we’re not having kids.’ But now I’m thinking, ‘Maybe I’ll want another one,’” Dannii laughed. “I don’t know what the pregnancy hormone is, but I wish I could bottle it and have it forever. I’m so clam and I just laugh at everything. Kris keeps saying, ‘Who stole my girlfriend? Who are you?’ I’m normally more wound up and controlling.”
Dannii is expected to spend some time in Australia with her family and newborn son before she returns to the UK to reclaim her seat on the judging panel of The X Factor.
