Three piece band The Tiger Lillies are currently in New Zealand, performing their darkly humerous brand of music.
The often controversial band, have been known to sing about taboo subjects such as bestiality, prostitution and blasphemy.
But despite x-rated leanings, the band has enjoyed considerable acclaim – nominated for a Grammy in 2003 for their album The Gorey End.
The trio have been performing together for 20 years but they are still not sure how to describe their music.
“Well we've tried lots of things like old cabaret but that doesn't do it, and then satanic folk we went through a bit, then death oompah,” says drummer Adrian Huge.
The London-based band have performed all around the world and developed an eclectic mix of devoted fans.
The band say their fans usually stand out.
“There's a man called John Fish from Prague, he's a bit of a geek actually, he sort of comes,” says Hage.
The Tiger Lillies perform a one-off show in Wellington tomorrow night.
