Dave Mustaine's neck surgery a success

Metal headbanger Dave Mustaine is celebrating after doctors declared his recent neck surgery a success.

The Megadeth star suffered an injury during the band's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour last year, and he underwent a procedure to fix the problem.

He had a scan on Friday to check the progress of his healing and was delighted to discover his injury is "totally fused".

In a post on his Twitter account, he writes, "Got my 6 mos (months) X-rays 3/30/12 on my neck. Totally fused, and I can finally start exercising. Thank God, and thanks for your prayers."
