So Dibor, were you there standing beside David back in '94? I guess (or hope) not!

Let's just accept the fact that the crown led it wrong, the police investigation got it all wrong and if the juries decision was wrong, so be it! There's nothing anyone can do now, Mr Bain is a free man. If there's anything to be learnt from this case, I suppose it's simple misconduct with the whole investigation. They had hundreds of detectives, witnesses and evidence to prove their suspicions but that tiny inch of doubt was enough to convince the jury and even the privy council oterwise.

So who's really the loser?

I hope that New Zealand (and the media responsible for informing the New Zealand public) will remember that this verdict is based solely on the fact that the initial police investigation made several major errors which mean that David cannot be proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt. It does not mean that he did not murder his family.

I believe David is guilty based on the evidence presented in court. I also believe there were unethical proceedings during the initial police investigation. I sincerely hope that this retrial verdict inspires countless future generations of police officers to ensure that we do not let any future murderers evade the justice system due to errors on behalf of the investigators and proscecutors.

Ultimately, whether in jail or not, David has to live with himself and his actions and I am sure that this is punishment enough.

According to Andrew, the verdict is appalling and Bain was cleared by a jury of "idiots".
You also say you are studying law and its cases like this that make you wonder why.
Inspector (now assistant police commisioner) Rob Pope would love prosecution lawyers like you, every bastards guilty before trial.
What about the FACTS in the Scott Watson fiasco, surely the FACTS in that trial speak for themselves, dont you think.
You might, with a lot of help become a lawyer one day Andrew, but I doubt a very good one with your attitude.
David Bain has been found not guilty by a jury of his peers, whether they were right or wrong, I dont know, I dont think anyone will know really because this case is not that clear cut.
Just a short note to Joe Karam. Ok Joe, now you have that out of the way, how about getting your teeth into a real miscarriage of justice and get Scotty Watson out of Jail because his case is clear cut, glaringly so. The evidence in his trial or I should say the lack of it demands his release and substancial compensation.

Hey kiwis. It looks like this case clearly sends an invitation to future serial psychopath murderers, no thanks to the NZ Justice system.

Either way, congratulation David! Hope you enjoy your compensation! You really well deserve it!!! :)

To Andrew. I hope you do stop studying law since you obviously have no idea what "reasonable doubt" is.

The hardest thing to do is to judge whether someone is innocent or guilty. that is why I have never wanted to do jury duty. The laws of the land provide guidelines on how people are judged in trials such as this, and when all the evidence is presented and sifted through, a person is found innocent or guilty. I must say that I was shocked by the missing clothing, so crucial for David Bain's defense. No-one knows who killed his family exept the killer. We have to be satisfied that he is innocent of a crime, judged by the laws of the land. People should respect his right now, and leave him alone

If Karam had spent as much time and effort on Robin Bain then where would David Bain be. Robin Bain is not here to defend himself against horrible allegations based on little evidence

This decision is appalling! Im 21 studying law and this decision makes me feel sick. Its cases like this that make me wonder why im studying law. Now he is going to be asking for millions. This is definitely another O J Simpson case all over again!!! I hope David Bain gets all the taunting he deserves from the public of New Zealand.

David Bain will always be guilty in my mind and just because a jury full of idiots said he isn't won't change my mind, the facts speak for themselves!
