Police have released the name of a motorcyclist killed in a collision near Whiritoa on Friday.

He was Daryl Wayne Bryenton, 48, of KatiKati.

"The crash is still under investigation by the Serious Crash Unit however initial indications are Mr Bryenton died after he failed to negotiate a left hand bend on SH25 and his motorcycle crossed the centre line into the path of an oncoming Toyota Surf about 5km north of Whiritoa about 1.40pm,” says Waikato District road policing manager, Inspector Leo Tooman.

"This latest death is the 22 fatality on Waikato roads this year compared to 34 for the same period in 2011. While our road toll is 12 less than last year's any road death is a tragedy and something we all need to work on to avoid."
